We set the rules…

Well, I set the rules… he agreed.

Ella Connolly is looking forward to starting a new adventure in her life. After putting her party girl, headline-grabbing tabloid exploits behind her, she has become a responsible and successful entrepreneur. Moving across the pond to Manhattan, she’s determined to make the dream for her boutique to become an international retail brand come true.

While in the States, her overprotective brother insists she have a full-time security detail. This complicates Ella’s plans in more ways than one.

Alex Robertsen’s life is in shambles. After losing the woman he loves to his brother, he’s been on a steady diet of booze and easy women in an effort to make himself numb. Things needed to change.

Change is good.

Good, that is, until Alex finds himself thrust into an all too familiar situation.

He’s obligated by a professional oath to protect Ella at all costs.

She’s vowed to not let distractions, even the ruggedly handsome ones, keep her from her goals.

But old habits die hard…

We’d broken the rules… more than once.

We were bound to… and we agreed it was worth the risk.

He left before it shattered us both… or so we thought.

REVIEW
2* read.
Now I'll start by saying that I am probably one of the only bloggers/readers to rate this so low after looking at everyones reviews but I have to be honest and this book personally wasn't for me at all. That been said there is numerous 5* ratings on amazon and goodreads and I do urge readers to give this book a go, it just wasn't for me. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood to read it and I do think I will go back and try it again at some point after I've seen everyones reviews raving about this book.
I'm not going to say much more about this except to give a reason why I rated it so low. For me I found it hard to connect with the story and characters to the point where I found myself wanting to skip parts just to finish to quicker. I just really struggled getting into the book at all. I do think I need to go back at some point and try again and maybe then I can change my rating, but at the minute it just wasn't for me.

Excerpt

The duo snogging didn’t bother to make room for us, leaving me no choice but to stand on the same side of the lift with Alex. With our arms brushed against one another, heat spread across my skin like a raging wildfire. The two of us snuggled close in a compact space. My hand still tingled from his touch. It was impossible to concentrate on anything other than him. He was here. Right next to me, looking gorgeous and smelling perfectly divine. All sense I had retreated from my brain as I stood there fantasizing about pushing him up against the wall and allowing him to shag . . . fuck the hell out of me.

Shut up, Ella, you dirty bird.

When the car reached the fifth floor, and the couple playing slap and tickle walked out, I stifled a moan of relief. Unsure if I was comforted due to the fact that they left or that I had Alex all to myself. I glanced at him, trying to get a sense of his thoughts. His mouth was pressed into a hard line, and his eyes remained forward, fixed on the numeric panel.

The lift came to a halt at the lobby and Alex stepped out, his head turned left and back to the right. The unrehearsed movement was fluid. He motioned for me to walk in front of him, but I had no clue where we were going.

“You lead the way.”

“All right, but keep your pace with mine,” he instructed. His voice was firm not angry.

I nodded, and did as I was instructed, keeping my stride with his as we passed through the spacious lobby. Something had changed his demeanor during the ride in the lift . . . elevator. Mentally I noted that I needed to brush up on my American English. If I intended to do business here, I should at least make the effort to know the proper terms.

Once outside, his hand reached inside his jacket pocket, pulling out his sunglasses. As we approached the valent stand, he put them on, shielding me from seeing his gorgeous eyes that reminded me of glowing golden sunlight sifting through deep green leaves.

Snap out of it, Ella. He’s your bodyguard.

Straightening my shoulders, I hauled my handbag higher onto my shoulder. I vowed to lock all my scandalous thoughts away.

Title: Bet Me
Author: Lila Monroe
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: January 27, 2017

Blurb

What happens when your sex strike goes viral -- and suddenly every man in town has their eye on your prize?

All I wanted was little old-fashioned romance. After a parade of Tinder disasters who think chivalry is giving me a pearl necklace on the first date, I made a pledge: until guys step up their game, this girl is off the market.

But one bottle of chardonnay later, and my drunken rant has gone viral. I’m the most famous person NOT having sex since the Jonas Brothers put on their purity rings. A men’s magazine has even put a bounty on my (ahem) maidenhead: fifty Gs to whoever makes me break the drought.

Be careful what you wish for...

Now my office looks like an explosion in a Hallmark factory, I’ve got guys lining up to sweep me off my feet - and the one man I want is most definitely off-limits. Jake Weston is a player through and through. He’s also the only one who sees through the mayhem to the real me, but how can I trust he’s not just out to claim the glory?

And how will I make it through the strike without scratching the itch - especially when that itch looks so damn good out of his suit?

The thrill of the chaste has never been so sexy in Lila Monroe’s hilarious, hot new romantic read!

REVIEW
4* read.
I've read a few books by this author before so was looking forward to tthis story. A unique book that had me laughing out loud.
Lizzie and Jake are both stubborn and the chemistry between this love hate relationship was smoking. A lot of back and forwards and will they won't you type of thing but I was rooting for them from the start.
This was a great what I call RomCom read with characters i easily connected to and secondary characters i wanted to get to know more.

REVIEW
 4* read.
It started off a bit slow for me but when it picked up I found myself gripped. A story about second chances and filled full of a rollercoaster of emotions.
Jet was the one character I immediately connected with and his and Rachel's story and journey was addicting to read. I don't want to give anything away about them or their story but I will say that this is defiantly worth a read.

Excerpt

“You shouldn’t be here. You need to leave.” I break the kiss and push away as much as his weight will allow. My legs scissor trying to close. He pauses for a moment, searching my eyes, my tone is serious and my face even more so, but if he looks hard enough he can see the fire in my eyes. This is a very fine line I am leading him along and it is only that I trust him with my soul that I feel safe enough to play with that fire, a fire his eyes now recognise.

“Make me.” He growls.

It’s like a touch paper being lit and I explode beneath him. The force of the move and sharp twist in my body takes him by surprise and I manage to scramble out from under his body and slip to the edge of the bed. His hand wraps around my ankle and he swiftly drags me back across the sheet, planting a sound slap on my arse cheek and laughing out at my futile attempt to escape. Oh I’m mad now. I kick my legs and once again I am free. This time, I’m quick and leap from the bed and race toward the bathroom. I only make it two strides across the room, he’s like my shadow, instantly at my back. He grabs my arm and spins me into his chest, stepping me hard and fast against the wall. I grunt out breathless at the impact and he steps back and freezes, his hands held up in surrender.

Not what I was expecting in the cat and mouse game of rough resistance play.

“I can’t Sam.” His broken tone and soft words slice me. He shakes his head and steps up to me softening the rejection that must be plastered on my face. “Not because I don’t want to…fuck look how much I want to.” His eyes dip and mine follow his line of sight to the most painful looking erection straining against his abdomen. “You are the fucking sexiest woman alive but I can’t play this game…not right now. What if I hurt you?” His questions feels rhetorical and sounds like a plea.

“You hurt me all the time Jason…I like it, remember?” I can’t hide the hurt and humiliation. My words are fired with a snarl, my tone harsh and hateful. He doesn’t flinch but steps flush against my heaving body, adrenalin and desire still coursing though me despite his shut down.

“This is different and you know it.” He states calmly but his position implacable. “I want to try this…I get it, I do, but this could get very rough and I am not prepared to risk my baby.” Shit now I feel worse. I deflate in his arms, what’s wrong with me? He pulls me into his warm embrace and I crumple in his arms.

“I didn’t think…I just…” I falter my guilt wrestling with my shame and rendering me speechless.

“That’s what I’m for…we’re in this together Sam and I wasn’t thinking either or I wouldn’t have started. This wasn’t exactly covered in your ‘list’ at the doctors but I’m pretty sure he would’ve said no.” He brushes the fallen hair from my face, his fingers sweep my cheek and he holds my face so we he is gazing unobstructed into my eyes. “You’re strong Sam but really you don’t stand a chance against me.”

“Oh really we’ll see about that.” I let out a light laugh at his wry smile. His teasing tone enough to bring me back to my senses without a shred of blame.

“In about nine months.” He wiggles his brows playfully and I let my head drop on to his chest and smile against his warm skin.

“In eight and a bit months.” I mutter and look up to him looking down. My breath catches at the depth of love in his gaze. He bends and scoops me into his arms, turning and walking back across the room, he unceremoniously dumps me on to the bed.

“We will rain check that new game but for now I’m going to go old school and just fuck your brains out.” His voice is low and sensual. The bed dips as he stalks up my body, such desire and adoration in his eyes any trace of rejection is obliterated with that completely covetous look scorching my skin as it travels the length of my reclining body.

“I like the sound of that.” I exhale and sigh at the same time.

“Not sure all the other guests will share your view though beautiful, so maybe keep the screaming down.” He quips.

“I thought you liked it when I screamed your name.” I suck my bottom lip in and let my most wicked grin split my lips and pull them wide.

“I do.” He hesitates but his expression is troubled, it takes a moment to sink in.

“Your mum…don’t tell me she’s a light sleeper?” I get a nervous knot in my stomach and I wonder if his mother is actually the Queen of bloody England. I really wish I had met her before because this pedestal her boys have placed her on makes my neck strain.

“She wouldn’t have to be a light sleeper Sam, you scream like a banshee.” He teases and settles kneeling between my legs. His heavy cock in his hand, resting the tip at the apex of my thighs, tapping a hypnotic rhythm.

“Fine, I won’t scream.” My mouth waters at the sight.

“I could gag you.” He offers and I smile sweetly.

“You could try.” I purr.

Title: The Neighborhood
Series: Twin Estates #2
Author: Stylo Fantôme
Genre: Erotic Romance
Release Date: January 17, 2017

Blurb

Things a bad neighbor can do to you:

1. Have loud parties late at night

2. Refuse to mow his lawn

3. Steal your newspapers

4. Rip your heart out and walk all over it

Katya Tocci is willing to admit that she may have bitten off more than she could chew.

Liam Edenhoff showed her a side of life she'd been missing out on - sex and friendship and tacos. But then he betrayed her.

Wulfric Stone taught her that big surprises can come from unexpected places - like from a surly, aggressive, withdrawn bastard. But then he broke her heart.

Now one of them wants forgiveness, and the other wants forever. And Katya? She just wants to forget.

Who knew neighbors could be so difficult?

This story contains scenes of a graphic sexual nature, multiple uses of coarse language, and quite possibly enough confusion to drive a normal person insane. Reader discretion is advised.

REVIEW
4* read.
Firstly if you haven't read the first book in this series then you really need to before this one otherwise you won't be able to follow it properly. Also if you haven't read book 1 then do not read my review as it may contain spoilers from the first book.
I have to admit after the ending of book 1 I've been really excited for this book and couldn't wait to see where the author took the characters next. I don't usually read love triangles of any sort, mainly because I always end up feeling really bad for the character who looses out, but this was a book that I had to overlook that part as I completely fell in love with the story and characters. In book 1 I struggled to build an opinion on Liam and Wulf as my feelings were up and down on both of them, but in this book you got to see more of there true personality and I had a firm favorite pretty early on. Now Katya I struggled with in this book, yes i get that she was hurt and upset and all that but I really wished she hadn't acted like such a spoilt child and grew up a bit and acted more like a strong woman.
All that been said I do love this authors writing style and I was addicted until the very last page just so I could see where it went next.

"Have you eaten?” he asked.
“How did you get in here?” she ignored his question and asked her own.
“I have access to the keys for every building we manage. Are you really meeting that thing for dinner?” he asked again.
“Okay, first of all, 'that thing' is a seriously good looking, very successful, and ridiculously nice man – a man who has yet to lie to me and use me,” she pointed out.
“Key word being 'yet'.”
“And second of all, I know for a fact my lease states you have to give me twenty-four hour notice before you just barge in here. If you come in again without my permission, I'm gonna file a complaint,” she warned him. He laughed. Actually laughed. Something Wulfric Stone didn't do very often. She took a deep breath and looked away from his broad smile.
“Please do. I'll direct my HR department to hand deliver it to my desk so I can deal with it
personally.”
“Are we done here? I have things to do today that don't involve dealing with you,” she snapped. He stepped closer to her.
“You might be even funner now than you were before.”
“That's not funny, and if you can't realize that, then there is literally no hope for you.”
“Ah, implying there is hope.”
“Shut up.”
“Feisty. I love it.”
“I talked to Vieve,” she blurted out. That finally stopped him.
“Oh, really,” was all he said.
“Yup. Went to your place, had a cup of coffee with her,” she said. That seemed to actually surprise him.
“You were in my home?” he checked.
“Yes. Apparently, I could've been spending lots of time there. Very generous of you to give me complete access,” she said. He didn't react, though she noticed the tendon in the side of his neck was taut and straining.
“Yes, well, I've met you. I knew if you ever showed up, it would be a huge hassle with the front desk calling my office and you calling my cell phone and me having to drive across town.
Was just easier that way.”
“Sure. Okay.”
“And how was the coffee? I have it imported.”
Katya stared at the tight tendon for a moment longer. He was so good at putting on a false front, she knew. Looking calm and collected. After all, this was a man who ate million dollar real estate deals before breakfast.
But it was all fake. He was nervous. Deep down, she could tell. Being forceful was just his way of barreling through a problem he didn't actually want to deal with – he could just strong arm her into doing what he wanted. No unnecessary awkwardness. That was Wulf's M.O.
Yeah, well, my M.O. is to make him feel as awkward as humanly possible.
“I can't go to breakfast with you,” she stated, brushing past him and heading down the hallway. He didn't hesitate to follow behind her.
“No shit, it's afternoon – it's too late for brunch, even. But that Brazilian food cart is open for lunches now, we're going -” he started, but she waved her hand over her shoulder as she moved into her bedroom.
"I can't, I'm busy this afternoon. I have to go shopping for a new stove – don't worry, I'll have the bill sent to you,” she joked, turning around and standing in the doorway to her room.
He glared down at her.
“Don't be ridiculous. I'll talk to maintenance, we can get a new stove in by the end of the
week,” he assured her.
“Whatever. I have other plans.”
“Tocci, I'm not -”
“But how about dinner?” she offered.
That seemed to shock him. He stood still for moment, his eyes wandering over her face.
Obviously trying to figure out if she was lying. She offered him a big smile, and that just seemed to throw him even more off guard. He finally narrowed his eyes.
“If I make reservations, you'll be downstairs on time?” he checked.
“No,” she shook her head. “But I can meet you there.”
“Bullshit. You'll stand me up, and I'm not wasting my time, sitting around like an asshole waiting for you,” he said.
“I won't, I promise. I have … a client I'm dealing with this afternoon. I don't know how long it will take,” she told him.
“What about your dinner date with your darling handyman?” he asked. She shrugged.
“I'll figure something out, don't worry about it. I'll have dinner with you.”
“You promise?” he checked, still glaring down at her. She nodded and ran her fingers across her chest in an X motion.
“Cross my heart.”
“Fine. But don't fuck with me, Tocci. You won't like it if I have to come and find you. We have a lot to discuss,” he informed her. She nodded.
“I'm sure we do. What's the dress code?” she asked. Wulf was a 3-Michelin-stars kind of restaurant goer when it came to dinner dates.
“A dress,” he informed her, and then his gaze wandered over her shoulder. She had some clothes laying around on the floor, littered about on the bed. She was gearing up to do laundry. “If you'd like to try on some options, I'd be more than happy to sit and help.”
Katya laughed and slid her hands up either side of the door frame. Wulf followed the motion with his eyes, which grew wide when she leaned towards him.
“Mmmm, that would be fun, wouldn't it?” she chuckled.
“Possibly.”
“And it's been a very long time since you've been in my bedroom,” she reminded him. He nodded.
“It has.”
“And we never got to have any real fun in here, did we?” she sighed, glancing back at her bed.
“No. No, we did it not.”
“It must make you wonder, though,” she said, dropping her hands and stepping back into the room.
“Wonder what?”
“What kind of fun Liam and I used to have in here.”
There was a split second where she got to see equal parts anger and shock ripple across his features.
Then she slammed the door in his face.

Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ... forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.
