Genre: Contemporary Romance

It was like seeing a ghost.
When my late husband’s twin brother moves back to our small town, I want to avoid him. Everything about Wes reminds me of the man I lost and the life we’d planned together, and after eighteen long months struggling just to get out of bed, I’m finally doing okay. I have a new job, an amazing support group, and a beautiful five-year-old daughter to parent. I don’t want to go backward.
But I’m drawn to him, too. He understands my grief and anger and guilt like no one else—and I understand his. Before long, that understanding becomes desire, and that desire becomes uncontrollable.
He says he doesn't care what people think, and love can never be wrong. But life has taught me its cruelest lesson--love doesn't always win.
If only my heart would believe it.

Excerpt:

“Want to go out in the canoe?” he asked. “Okay.” I ditched my flip-flops on the small, beach-level deck, and we set our wine glasses and the bottle on the deck’s little round table. Wes was already barefoot. Together we dragged the forest green canoe from the tall beach grasses on the side of the deck down to the water’s edge and tipped it over. “Let me rinse it out a little,” Wes said, frowning at the dirt and spider webs inside. “Want to grab the paddles? They should be in the shed.” “On it.” I went to the small shed on the embankment, opened it up and grabbed the oars, which stood in one corner. On the shelves were life jackets and sand toys and deflated rafts that probably had holes in them, and scratched into the wooden door among other graffiti was WP + CB. Huh. I’d never noticed that before. Who was CB? I glanced over my shoulder at Wes, who’d taken off his T-shirt and tossed it onto the sand. My stomach full-out flipped. Quickly, I shut the door to the shed and brought the oars down to the canoe. Wes stood up straight and stuck his hands on his hips. He wore different sunglasses than Drew had worn, more of an aviator than a wayfarer. The body was similar, though Wes’s arms seemed more muscular, especially through the shoulder. Other things were the same and caused a rippling low in my body—the soft maroon color of his nipples, the trim waist, the trail of hair leading from his belly button to beneath the low-sling waistband of his red swim trunks. In my head I heard Tess’s voice. Arms. Chest. Shoulders. Skin. Stubble. Muscle. The smell of a man. The solidity of him. “What’s the law on drinking and canoeing?” he asked. What’s the law on staring at your brother-in-law’s nipples? I wondered, swallowing hard. What was wrong with me? “I think we’re okay,” I said, handing the oars to him. Our hands touched in the exchange. “Let me grab our glasses.” “Perfect. If you hold them, I’ll take us out.” I retrieved the wine glasses from the table and walked carefully across the sand to the lake’s edge, taking deep, slow breaths. A sweat had broken out across my back. I was wearing a swimsuit beneath my cover up, a modest tankini, but I didn’t want to remove it. Wading ankle deep, I attempted to step into the canoe, but it wobbled beneath my foot. “Whoa.” Wes took me by the elbow and didn’t let go until I was seated at one end, facing the other. “Okay?” I nodded. Despite the heat, my arms had broken out in goose flesh. “All right, here we go.” As he rowed us away from shore, the breeze picked up, cooling my face and chest and back. “Drew and I used to have canoe-tipping contests.” I snapped my chin down and skewered Wes with a look over the top of my sunglasses. “Don’t even think about it.” He just grinned, the muscles in his arms and chest and stomach flexing with every stroke of the oars through the water. Momentarily mesmerized, I allowed myself the pleasure of watching him. It was okay if we were both thinking about Drew, wasn’t it? In fact, it was only natural that I was intrigued by the sight of Wes’s body. He was my husband’s identical twin, for heaven’s sake, and I missed his physical presence in my life. I missed looking at him naked. I missed feeling the weight of him above me. I missed the feeling of being aroused by him, of my body’s responses to his touch, his kiss, his cock. Deep in my body, the rusty mechanism of arousal creaked to life. My nipples peaked, my stomach hollowed, and something fluttered between my legs. Oh, Jesus. I sat up straighter, pressed my knees together, and closed my mouth, which I realized had fallen open. Hopefully I hadn’t moaned or anything. After another sip of wine, I turned my head and studied a freighter off in the distance. My heart was beating way too fast. It’s only natural. It’s only natural. Wes stopped paddling and set the oars in the bottom of the canoe, their handles resting against the seat in the middle. “We’ll have to bring Abby out here.” “Definitely.” Did my voice sound normal? “She’ll love it. Here, want this?” I held his wine glass toward him and he reached out to take it. His fingers brushed mine, and I pulled my hand back as if the touch had burned me. “Thanks.” He tipped the glass up then looked along the shore. “I’d like to find a place on the lake. Maybe not along this stretch of beach, though.” I caught his meaning and smiled. “A little too close to home?” “Yeah. But I don’t want to be too far away. I’d like to get a boat too.” “What kind of boat? Drew always talked about it, but we never quite settled on one.” “Not sure. Maybe just a little fishing boat, something to ski behind.” “That sounds fun. Drew loved to ski.” “We’ll have to teach Abby.” I laughed. “You, not we. I managed to get up and stay up a few times, but I am not the expert.” “You can teach her to cook, I’ll teach her to water ski.” “Deal.” Separate activities seemed like a good idea. “Breakfast was incredible.” “Thanks.” I tucked a strand of hair that had escaped my ponytail behind my ear, but the wind blew it right back into my face. “I really like working there. I’m so glad Georgia suggested it to me.” “How long have you been there?” “Since spring, when they got busy. I’m not sure what I’ll do this winter when it slows down. I’m dreading it, actually. Abby will be in school full time, and it will just be me at home alone.” This was something else I hadn’t talked about with anyone, how worried I was that the gray skies and cold weather and silent hours would set me spiraling into depression. “I always thought I’d have another baby to take care of, but life saw things differently.” “You’re still young, Hannah.” I shook my head. “I’m really not. And I feel even older than I am.” Please don’t go Grief Police on me and tell me I’m being ridiculous, I begged him silently. This isn’t the life I chose. It was handed to me and I’m doing the best I can. But he didn’t say anything more, just sipped his wine and looked out at the horizon. I was grateful. “What about you?” I asked. “Think maybe you’ll get married now that you’re back? Have a family? Abby won’t have any siblings so she needs some cousins.” “That seems to be a popular topic of discussion around here,” Wes said, shaking his head, “but I really have no idea.” “Small town. We like to know everyone’s business.” I smiled. “Hey, what about CB? I saw your initials carved with hers on the door of the shed. Maybe she’s still around.” He groaned. “Is that still there? Jesus. That had to be twenty years ago.” Hugging my knees, I leaned forward. “First love?” “Not even.” He hesitated, as if he were trying to decide whether to confess something. “Come on,” I cajoled, carefully reaching out of the canoe, and splashing water toward him. “Tell me. I’ve been spilling my guts for an hour.” “First kiss.” I squealed. “And?” He cringed. “It’s too embarrassing.” “Wes, I had a completely humiliating breakdown in front of you last night. I got snot on my arm.” “This is worse.” “Get it out. You’ll feel better.” “Let’s just say it was a very awkward, very fast experience.” I gasped. “You lost your virginity to her?” “No. Just my dignity.” Laughing, I tilted my head back and felt the sun on my face, the wind in my hair, and something like joy in my heart. It had been a long time.

Review

4.5* read.

When I first read the blurb I fell in love with the unique storyline. I didn't know how I'd feel actually reading it but that's one of the reason I was so excited to read it.

The question you immediantly ask yourself is what would you do faced with the twin brother of your husband who recently died, and not just a twin an identical twin? Who looks exactly like him yet is completly different in so many ways? This isn't me giving away the story btw, your told this fact straight away in the blurb. Hannah and Wes are dealing with their feelings for each other whilst also dealing with loosing Drew. Its heartbreaking to read these characters and what they go through mentally, you feel every emotion they do as you go on their journey.

I knew straight away from reading the blurb that I was in for an emotional journey and boy was I right. So many emotions, raw heartbreaking emotions, and beautifully wrote I couldn't put this book down. Well done Melanie on turning me into a blubbering mess.

That's all it was supposed to be. Her. Him. Pleasure. And then a fast goodbye. He's a stranger. And yet, he's not. She knows him even though he doesn’t know her.
He's the powerful attorney, now world-renowned after coming off the trial of a century which was publicized across the country. And I'm one of the reporters that sat in his courtroom.
I watched him, studied him, got to know him from afar which isn't hard since I know his exact brand of confidence, arrogance, and wealth.
I know his type. I've dated his type. Which is why when I happen to come face to face with him, when sparks fly and heat simmers between us, I know what happens if I say "yes" to Reese Summer.
I know he'll taste like sin and sex, even before he kisses me.
I know he'll feel like pleasure and passion, even before he touches me.
I know he'll demand more than I wants to give, and yet, because I dare to give myself to him, the result will be deliciously hot.
I know that I will not leave his bed without being utterly, completely sated.

EXCERPT
“You’re as perfect as I knew you would be,” he says, his voice managing to be both sandpaper and silk on my nerve endings, as he adds, “and almost as naked as I want you to be.”
The idea that he has wanted me as much as I have wanted him does funny things to my stomach, but more so, delivers an unexpected wave of illogical vulnerability. This is sex. The end. I don’t want or need to feel anything more. I want and need him naked and fucking me now, fast, hard. That’s safe. Desperate to find that safe place, to shift the control from him to me, I push to my toes, my breasts molding to his chest, and press my lips to his lips. They are warm, and he is hard everywhere I am soft.
And his response to my kiss, the answering moan I am rewarded with, is white-hot fire in my blood that he ignites further with a deep, sizzling stroke of his tongue. He slants his mouth over mine, deepening the connection, kissing me with a fierceness no other man ever has, but then some part of me has known from moment one that he is like no man I have ever known. Which explains why he is everything I want. And nothing about this night is what I expected, any more than this man is anything I can control.
But there is something intensely arousing about the idea of trying.
As if claiming I am reaching for the impossible, he molds me closer, his hand between my shoulder blades, his tongue playing wickedly with mine, but I meet him stroke for stroke, arching into him. He cups my ass and pulls me solidly against his erection. He wins this one. Now I am the one moaning, arching into him, and I welcome the intimate connection. I burn for the moment he will be inside me.
But I also want him to burn for this just as much as I do, and I need to touch this man. Really, really, need to touch him. My hand presses between us, and I stroke the hard line of his shaft. Reese tears his mouth from mine, pressing me hard against the pillar supporting the window again, and when his hands leave my body, when his palms press to the concrete above me again, I sense his withdrawal is about control. I was winning. I confirm that as reality when our eyes lock, and the dash of fire in his eyes is lit by one part passion and one part challenge.
“If I slide my fingers between your legs right now,” he says, “are you wet for me? Are you ready for me?”
“Why don’t you find out for yourself?” I dare him, testing him, pushing him.

REVIEW
4.5* read.
This is the second book in this series but can be read as a standalone. It had the perfect mix of everything I love in a sports romance book, a feel good romance that will give you all the right feels in all the right places.
Beaux is the newest signing to the team and whilst taking some downtime in a local sports bar Beaux meets Paige who is a waitress there. What I loved is how Paige doesn't just jump on Beaux like he expects her too. The chemistry between the two of them can be felt off the page from the get go and the dynamic between them was perfect. I loved Beaux's sweet side and how he works for Paige. It was just a very sweet romantic read with characters I Instanly loved. I'm looking forward to the next one by this author.

Title: Reluctant
Author: Marla Josephs
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: September 12, 2014
Fallon has had a long and rough couple of years. She's ready now to work on putting the past behind her and focus on putting her life back together. A trip to see her best friend to hang out and create some new happy memories seems just the way to start off her new life. However, the first person she meets is Reid Snow, who threatens her peace of mind. Fallon does everything to resist his bad boy charm. The last thing she needs is someone else bringing drama into her life. But, when tragedy strikes Reid is the one who she turns to.

Reid Snow has gone from an unknown to a well known. He never had a problem in the female department until he's taken in by a gold digger who is after more than just his good looks. Before becoming a well known actor, women always wanted him for himself. Determined not to be suckered again, he finds himself extremely attracted to the best friend of his best friend's sister. The only problem is, he's not interested in anything more than casual hook-ups. But, even if Fallon would give him the time of day, which she doesn't seem inclined to do, starting something with her could jeopardize his friendship with his best friend.
Fallon ended up not stopping for lunch and drove straight through. Because she’d left so early, she ended up arriving in the late afternoon. Once she brought her suitcase and things in, she decided to take a swim. Alexa had a nice sized pool in her back yard. It was nice to play in, but also long enough for serious laps.
After some serious swimming for a good twenty minutes, Fallon did cool down laps for another ten minutes. Starting to feel the first twinges of hunger, she hopped out and headed for the kitchen to see what Alexa had to eat. She hadn’t really eaten all day. With her stomach upset over everything she ate, eating wasn’t high on her priority list these days. Hopefully she wouldn’t have to go out and get something.
She walked in the sliding glass door drying her hair and froze at the sounds of movement in the kitchen. She looked up to see a strange man and woman going at it on the kitchen counter. At least the woman’s ass was on the kitchen counter, her blouse open and one hand belonging to the man standing between her spread legs was moving rhythmically under her skirt. She must have gasped, or made some other noise, because the man finally tore his lips from the woman’s, though his hand never stopped moving between her legs.
“What the hell? Who are you people? And, what are you doing here?” Fallon sputtered in shock.
The man turned the hottest look on her Fallon had ever seen. Instead of looking surprised, chagrined, or something appropriate, his eyes took a slow perusal down her body and an even slower one back up.
“Shouldn’t I be asking that question?” he asked with a slow, knowing, and wicked smile spreading across his face. “It’s okay. Come on in. I won’t kick you out. I’ll be with you in just a moment, love. Just let me finish with her.”
Fallon’s eyes widened in disbelief. Was she somehow in the wrong house? She couldn’t be. She’d used the key. What was going on here?
“Excuse me?” Fallon demanded, taken aback and full of indignation. Who was this Cretan? “How did you get in here?”
“The better question is, how did you get your delectable self in here?” the stranger said in a husky voice. The woman writhing insistently on the counter began to whimper under his steady fondling. For a moment, Fallon thought he would lose his concentration and take the obviously overheated woman right there on the counter, the way she was tugging and squeezing him. She seemed to not even care that Fallon was there.
Please, oh god, please,” she whined.
He’d turned to her, crooned something to her, and kissed her. Then he turned back to Fallon. Was this for real? This was some sort of sick joke, right?
“Did you follow me here?” he asked, fixing that sexy gaze on her. Fallon didn’t know whether she wanted to call the police or keep staring. This was unbelievable.
“Follow you? Kick me out?” She growled. His words finally penetrated her understanding and her outrage came to center stage. “This is my friend Alexa’s house. I don’t know who you are, or what is going on here. But, you’d better leave, or I’m calling the police.”
“You know Alexa?” Crazy Man asked. His eyes narrowed now and some of the heat lessened there.
“Of course, I do. She’s my friend. Why else would I be in her house?” Fallon snapped in utter perplexity. His eyes widened and he jerked away from the woman in surprise.
“You’re Fallon?” he asked clearly stunned. “But, Alexa said you wouldn’t be here until tomorrow.”
“Wait. How do you know my name?” Fallon asked cautiously. This was getting more and more bizarre by the second. Romeo there had frozen and was giving her his full attention now. He momentarily seemed to have completely forgotten the woman he was just finger fucking on the counter. She let out a whimper of protest.
“I promised I would be here to meet you and keep you entertained,” he blurted out.
“Look. I don’t know who you are, but I don’t need entertaining. Obviously, there’s been some sort of mistake,” Fallon said hesitantly. She didn’t know if she should risk the sudden movement of making a run for it or to take the time to grab her things and get the hell out of there. Deciding that he literally had his hands full pleasuring the more than willing woman with her ass on the counter, she figured it was safe to grab her stuff and go. She cautiously began to make her way around the counter, never taking her eyes from him. He never took his eyes off of her either, which was a bit disconcerting. As soon as she was around the counter, she dashed down the hall and into the guestroom.
Marla Josephs leads a busy life in Northern California with her husband and children. When everyone in the family isn't working or studying hard they are traveling and playing hard.
Now that her kids are older, she is very excited to be able to finally put her writing front and center.

Title: Someone Like You Author: Brittney Sahin (Sub)genre: Contemporary

About Someone Like You:

He was a nameless guy in a bar--a man Grace couldn't get out of her head...

A week later, she came home to find him sweaty and shirtless with a tape measure in hand, remodeling her loft. As a Parker-King, she's not allowed to want someone like Noah Dalton. She's sick of her life, though. Sick of the rules of being a Parker-King. She wants something more, even if it isn't forever. Somewhere in history there was that one time where hot, no-strings-attached sex didn't end badly, right? Finding comfort in the arms of a former SEAL is easy, not falling for one . . . not so much. Noah left the military and moved to New York for one reason: his daughter. Not for some uptight businesswoman--a Manhattan elitist. So when Grace offers him the kind of relationship that no hot-blooded man can turn down, he should say no. And when her seemingly put-together life spins out of control, and his instincts to protect and save kick in, he should turn away. But he doesn't. Can two people from different worlds really live in the moment, knowing they're on borrowed time, or is someone bound to get hurt?

Exclusive Excerpt:

“Sorry about him. I hope he didn’t say anything offensive.” “Nothing I haven’t heard before,” she says while glancing over her shoulder at me for a fleeting moment. “Right. Well, can I buy you a drink to make up for it?” I have no clue why I’m still standing here, but damned if I can get myself to move. “Ohhh, I get it.” She slips her hand free from her glass and faces me. “Is this some party trick of yours? One of you approaches and acts like an ass and the other guy steps in for the rescue? It’s kind of a tired routine, don’t you think?” Her pale eyes draw me in before my attention dips down to her lips. No lipstick or gloss. Just full, natural lips. Lips I suddenly want to pull between my teeth to see if she tastes as good as she smells. This is new for me. This feeling of being drawn to another woman. Even after almost a year of separation, I can’t help but notice the tinge of guilt coiling inside me over being attracted to another woman. Sure, I had those random rebound hookups, but those were out of anger. “No, it’s not a routine,” I say. “Well, you’re not my type.” Her eyes wander to my hand, which is pressed to the counter at my side. “And what’s your type?” I look at her. “Some guy in Armani with a money clip packed with more bills than I have in my bank account?” Shit. Cindy’s in my head and this woman is fast becoming my target, someone I suddenly want to hate. Although Miss Fourth of July looks nothing like my ex, she certainly reeks of money. Her clothes probably cost more than my rent at the docks. Not that I’m paying that much thanks to a friend. But the huge Prada bag on the bar stool next to her could buy my meals for a month. And the bag is another reminder of Cindy, because the only reason why I know it’s Prada is because Cindy’s mom bought her a similar purse on our ten-year anniversary—as if that wasn’t enough to make me feel like shit. Yes, thank you, mother-in-law, for outdoing me about ten times over on my goddamn anniversary. The woman stares at me with parted lips, not saying anything, and I get the feeling that isn’t the norm for her. There’s a slight bit of red pulling at her cheeks when she finds my eyes again. “Well, I hate to break it to you, lady, but you’re not exactly my type either.” Okay, so I don’t even know what my type is anymore, but I’m not in the right state of mind to find out. “Ah. You really are clever, aren’t you?” The woman’s smiling now. Her white teeth tease between her lips, but it’s the sexy way her eyes and nose smile too that has me swallowing. “Oh yeah? How so?” I place a hand on my chest, forgetting Cindy for the moment. Hell, the way this woman is looking at me right now, I can barely remember my own name. “You’re trying to make me want what I can’t have. You, in this case.” I didn’t expect that. Women don’t talk like this where I grew up, but I guess New York is a whole other ball game. “Oh really?” I’m keeping up this charade longer than I have any business to. “So you have everything you want in life, huh?” She wets her lips briefly. “I do, in fact.” Her eyes drift away from mine, an attempt to hide a lie. I step closer and bend my neck a little so our eyes meet again. “You sure about that?” She sucks in a noticeable breath, and when I realize I have her roped in—right the hell where any man would want a woman—I back up and turn away. Because I know a woman like her can be dangerous, and right now, I have one person I need to focus on.

About the Author:

Brittney Sahin began writing at an early age, with the dream to be a published author before the age of 18. Although academic pursuits (and, later, a teaching career) interrupted her aspirations, she never stopped writing—never stopped imagining. It wasn’t until her students encouraged her to follow her dreams that Brittney said goodbye to Upstate New York in order to start a new adventure in the place she was raised: Charlotte, North Carolina. Here, she decided to take her students’ advice and begin to write again. In 2015, she published her first novel, The Safe Bet. When she is not working on upcoming novels, she spends time with her family. She is a proud mother of two boys and a lover of novels, coffee, and the outdoors.

Problem is, I fell in love with someone unattainable. John Hamilton is kind, thoughtful, and generous...and it doesn’t hurt that he’s built like a Mack truck. I’m ready to throw caution to the wind and ask him to be the father of my child. The only problem? He’s my stepbrother, and it could destroy our family. He just wants her The first time I met Emery Collins, she was a scrawny teenager...and my new stepsister. She’s a grown woman now, and every long, hard inch of me has taken notice. But with our family ties, she’s officially off limits. Too bad she’s come to me with something she wants, something she needs from me. Now I can’t stop dreaming of filling her...of watching her belly swell with my child. What she’s asking for could tear apart our cobbled-together family. I’m just not sure it’s enough to stop me from taking what I want.

REVIEW
3.5* read.
I do love a good taboo romance, especially a step brother/sister one so I was really looking forward to this book.
I enjoyed the actual story even though it was heartbreaking in places, especially the reason why Emery whats and needs to have a child, it was also beautiful and well wrote.
My main and only real problem with the book that affected my score was the characters and my connection to them as a couple. I struggled to connect to John and Emery and for me thats the main thing I need in a book, without any connection I just can't invest in their relationship. I liked them as characters seperatly I just couldnt invest in them together.
A good read, I will definatly read more from this author in the future.

After their husbands all but push them out the door, they meet up for a week of sun, relaxation, and reminiscing.

4.5* read.
I do love Heidi McLaughlin and her books.
This is a follow up novella length book from the ladies of Beaumont who go on a vaction to both catch up with each other and have a break from wife/mum duties. It isn't a standalone and the other books need to be read first otherwise you will be completly lost (see below for the correct order to read them in).
It is a very short read but it gives you that little bit more, whilst also leaving you needing even more. Its a great catchup with old characters and also a great setup for the books about their kids too. I can't wait for more.

Heidi is a New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author.
Originally from the Pacific Northwest, she now lives in picturesque Vermont, with her husband and two daughters. Also renting space in their home is an over-hyper Beagle/Jack Russell, Buttercup and a Highland West/Mini Schnauzer, JiLL and her brother, Racicot.
When she's isn't writing one of the many stories planned for release, you'll find her sitting court-side during either daughter's basketball games.
Heidi's first novel, Forever My Girl, will be in theaters on October 27, 2017, starring Alex Roe and Jessica Rothe.
