REVIEW
 4* read.
This is different to this authors others books but yet again beautifully wrote.
You go through so many emotions throughout this book that by the end your left spinning still in an emotional whirlpool.
Truman and Gemma both had their own problems and it was really beautiful watching them grow throughout the story. At times Truman's story had me crying along, but it was defiantly worth a read even though I was an emotional wreck after.

Excerpt

TRUMAN GRITT LOCKED the door to Whiskey Automotive and stepped into the stormy September night. Sheets of rain blurred his vision, instantly drenching his jeans and T-shirt. A slow smile crept across his face as he tipped his chin up, soaking in the shower of freedom. He made his way around the dark building and climbed the wooden stairs to the deck outside his apartment. He could have used the interior door, but after being behind bars for six long years, Truman took advantage of the small pleasures he’d missed out on, like determining his own schedule, deciding when to eat and drink, and standing in the f**king rain if he wanted to. He leaned on the rough wooden railing, ignoring the splinters of wood piercing his tattooed forearms, squinted against the wetness, and scanned the cars in the junkyard they used for parts—and he used to rid himself of frustrations. He rested his leather boot on the metal box where he kept his painting supplies. Truman didn’t have much—his old extended-cab truck, which his friend Bear Whiskey had held on to for him while he was in prison, this apartment, and a solid job, both of which were compliments of the Whiskey family. The only family he had anymore.

Emotions he didn’t want to deal with burned in his gut, causing his chest to constrict. He turned to go inside, hoping to outrun thoughts of his own f**ked-up family, whom he’d tried—and failed—to save. His cell phone rang with his brother’s ringtone, “A Beautiful Lie” by 30 Seconds to Mars.

“F**k,” he muttered, debating letting the call go to voicemail, but six months of silence from his brother was a long time. Rain pelleted his back as he pressed his palm to the door to steady himself. The ringing stopped, and he blew out a breath he hadn’t realized he’d trapped inside. The phone rang again, and he froze.

He’d just freed himself from the dredges of hell that he’d been thrown into in an effort to save his brother. He didn’t need to get wrapped up in whatever mess the drug-addicted fool had gotten himself into. The call went to voicemail, and Truman eyed the metal box containing his painting supplies. Breathing like he’d been in a fight, he wished he could paint the frustration out of his head. When the phone rang for the third time in as many minutes, the third time since he was released from prison six months ago, he reluctantly answered.

“Quincy.” He hated the way his brother’s name came out sounding like the enemy. Quincy had been just a kid when Truman went to prison. Heavy breathing filled the airwaves. The hairs on Truman’s forearms and neck stood on end. He knew fear when he heard it. He could practically taste it as he ground his teeth together.

“I need you,” his brother’s tortured voice implored.

Need me? Truman had hunted down his brother after he was released from prison, and when he’d finally found him, Quincy was so high on crack he was nearly incoherent—but it didn’t take much for f**k off to come through loud and clear. What Quincy needed was rehab, but Truman knew from his tone that wasn’t the point of the call.

Before he could respond, his brother croaked out, “It’s Mom. She’s really bad.”

Author: Amie Knight
Genre: New Adult
Release Date: November 7, 2016

Blurb

Ainsley came into my life in a flurry of vibrant colors, lighting my world up when all seemed lost.

It wasn’t our quiet nights by the creek or stolen kisses surrounded by a sea of cotton that saved me.

It was her.

She was my comfort when life threw one ugly tragedy after another at me.

Until she dealt me the greatest blow.

Now, abandonment, betrayal, and death darken every corner of my life. Anger and hurt burn bright where love and trust once lived.

But, now, she’s back. Sure, she’s changed, but I see through it—straight to her heart.

REVIEW
4* read.
First picking up this book I didn't know what to expect. For a debut novel this was a great read and you go through a range of emotions throughout it.
What first grabbed me about this book was the beautiful cover. For me a cover is the first thing that really grabs my attention and sets me up for the story so this cover was really eye catching and made me expect great things for this story.
It was a really beautifully wrote story from a new up and coming author who I will defiantly be keeping my eyes on.

BOOK INFORMATION:

BETTER LOVE (Wingmen, #4)  by Daisy Prescott is LIVE!
This is a standalone title.

Book Blurb:
Maybe that old song got it right.
Maybe love can be better the second time around.
When one of my wingmen needs help, I'll do anything for him, including calling in a favor with the one person I swore I'd never speak to again.
Not after I walked away from that life five years ago and ditched the trappings of my success. The keyword being trap.
I left it all behind.
Including her.
Now the ambitious, brilliant, talented, and undeniably beautiful Roslyn Porter is back in my life. I'm not the same person she knew. I'm trying to be a better man.
No man is an island, but Dan Ashland comes close. He's content with his quiet life on Whidbey, a world away from the rat race on the other side of the ferry.
Dan has three great loves in his life: solitude, pizza, and Roslyn Porter.
Better Love is a standalone second chance romance featuring Dan Ashland and the fourth book in the Wingmen series.

REVIEW
5* read.

I love this authors past books so was really looking forward to reading this one too. A second chance at romance is one of my favourite reads and this really writes it beautifully.

Dan the pizza man made me completely fall in love with him even if he is a bit too old for me he wasn't your typical male lead character and that.s what I loved. A fresh take on second chance at romance wrote in the male pov that I couldn't put down.

Rosyln was also great and her and Dan's banter and journey really had me gripped. I look forward to more from this author.

REVIEW
 4* read.
I couldn't wait for Josh's story. What I enjoyed was how Marla didn't just give in, she made Josh work for it instead of just giving in straight away which was enjoyable as a reader to watch develop. She was a really strong independent woman and I loved the banter between her and Josh and also their friends.
Great read mixed with enough drama to keep me reading till the end.

Excerpt

The knock on the door stirred me out of my thoughts and my mind reeled over who could be keeping me from my dinner. The doorbell then chimed. Not once, not twice, but three annoying times in a row, followed by a series of fervent knocks.

I inaudibly walked toward the door, careful to not give myself away, in case it was someone selling me a subscription to the newspaper or converting me to their religion. I peered into the peephole and scrunched my face in aversion as my mouth emitted an aggravated sigh. I swiftly opened the door as his hand stopped midair.

My hip jutted out as my irritation level climbed. “What are you doing here?”

Josh’s cool exterior, the tight forest green shirt, the peekaboo tattoos, his dark jeans were all too much to take in. Good God, this man was delicious. It was enough to make me go nuts, but instead I kept myself calm. “Did you forget? Lessons.”

“Are you serious?” He nodded as his blazing eyes trailed down to my chest. I followed, remembering I had opened my blouse. I shrugged, closing the satin around my body. “What? You haven’t seen a great pair of breasts before?”

“Not those,” he smirked. “At least not yet.”

“Want me to shut this door in your face?” I flung it and walked away, but heard as his hand caught it from closing completely. I could feel his presence as he walked in and shut the door, locking it behind him.

“Thanks for inviting me in,” he said softly, as I glanced back, buttoning my blouse up. His eyes scanned my living room, and I ignored the idea of him seeing my untidy home. My shoes were set in an accumulating pile near the corner of the entrance, my sweaters and jackets hung over one another on hooks near the door, and magazines were scatted across my coffee table.

I turned and glared at him as he set his hands in his pockets, his eyes on my pretty heaps of high heels. “What?”

The grin playing over his lips stayed small, as if he knew to be careful with me. At the same time there was a hint of mischief behind those glassy light blue eyes. “Nothing,” he said, shaking his head slightly. “Nice shoes.”

“Fine. You can borrow a pair, but only if you promise to return them.”

A very rare smile spread over his lips. It was one that made his eyes twinkle, his teeth show, and a laugh emit from his throat. I shockingly found myself grinning back, a twirl in my stomach reminding me of what it felt like being on a rollercoaster right at the drop. Satisfaction built inside me knowing I had earned that moment of sincerity from him. It was one he hardly let others see. Wait. Why should I care that he smiled? Pull yourself together, Sullivan. “What are you doing here, Josh?”

A promise to protect me.

REVIEW
4* read.
Riley had it all until it is all took away from her. Her best friends brother Griffin comes to try and help her and tbh I can't say much more as I don't want to give any spoilers at all, its best read not knowing anything about the story. Its really sad and incredibly emotional throughout this book but well worth a read.
A really intense and emotional read.

Excerpt

Have you ever seen a bomb detonate? Just after the explosion, there’s this hissing silence and then chaos follows - rubble, destruction and so much pain and sorrow.

Right now, it’s as if that scenario is being played in reverse.

It’s a terrifying chaos as that man goes to stand in front of Dad. Dad’s still unconscious. He can’t even do anything to defend himself.

Life seems to be returning to my body in flashes. First, I start to yank at the chain. Then my mouth opens in a horrifying, silent scream.

The man grabs a fistful of Dad’s hair, shoves his head back, and then I watch as he presses the blade to Dad’s neck.

A violent pain blossoms in my chest and it threatens to bring the walls down around me. I watch as blood starts to trickle down Dad’s neck and then the man shoves the blade deeper.

I start to scream as hysteria hits me in waves. Part of me is caught in a nightmare-like state, refusing to believe that this is actually happening right now.

The man just walks away after slicing Dad’s neck open. My eyes are glued to my father’s blood flowing from the wound. The hysteria rages inside of me until I’m swept away in a maddening mania.

I can’t think clearly anymore.

I can’t process what I’m seeing.

All I can do is weep, scream, and yank at the unforgiving chain around my neck.

This - whatever this sick and twisted situation is - cannot be happening.

This is not real … this is not real … this is not real.
